Mixed-Use Urban Development – Damascus, Syria

Inquiry

For a distinctive investment and development project in Damascus, Radian Engineering Consultancy prepared the vision, master plan and integrated urban and architectural concept for a strategic site exceeding 130,000 m². The proposal transforms it into a mixed-use destination combining hospitality, business, housing, retail, culture, leisure, and public and green spaces, drawing on Damascene identity and Levantine architecture in a contemporary expression.

The vision creates an integrated urban destination balancing investment viability with urban and human value. It preserves the site’s environmental and historical qualities, connects it with the surrounding urban fabric, activates open spaces, encourages walking and cycling, and provides areas for seating, leisure and community interaction.

The master plan combines a luxury hotel, an office and business tower, a shopping centre, mixed-use residential and commercial areas, cultural facilities and a museum, services, restaurants, cafés and public spaces, supported by an integrated network of circulation routes, pedestrian connections, parking and open spaces.

Landscape and green space play a central role in shaping the development. The vision includes more than 80,000 m² of green space, approximately 60% of the site area, together with a promenade, seating areas, cycle routes, water features and urban elements that enhance the quality of place.

Radian also developed multiple architectural alternatives for the principal components, including the hotel, office tower, markets, and residential and commercial areas. These followed studies of the site, climate, circulation, accessibility and benchmark projects and hotels, leading to a master plan and architectural vision for a new urban and investment landmark in Damascus.
