Hydrological and Traffic Studies, and Review and Approval of Plans

Inquiry

Under an integrated consultancy project for Al-Qassim Municipality, Radian Engineering Consultancy prepares hydrological and hydraulic studies for development layouts and government-owned land. It also reviews, checks and approves hydrological studies and traffic impact assessments submitted by other engineering and consultancy firms against approved technical standards and requirements.

The scope includes catchment and wadi assessments; rainfall, discharge, water-level and flood-extent analysis; topographic surveys; digital elevation models (DEM); geographic information systems (GIS); one- and two-dimensional (1D/2D) hydrological and hydraulic modelling; flood extent and hazard mapping; and the identification of appropriate flood protection and drainage solutions and alternatives.

The project also includes specialist review and approval of traffic impact assessments for development layouts and projects. This covers surrounding roads and junctions, trip generation and distribution, traffic counts, peak hours, existing and future traffic conditions, access and egress, and required road and junction improvements.

Radian’s role extends beyond preparing studies to acting as technical reviewer, checker and approving consultant for submissions by other engineering firms. It links hydrological and traffic study outputs with GIS and the approved hydrological mapping framework to support planning decisions, land development and protection of projects and urban areas from flood risks.
