Radian: Lead Architect
For a major urban development project in the Syrian Arab Republic, Radian Engineering Consultancy was entrusted with the role of Lead Architect within an international multidisciplinary consortium bringing together expertise in development, contracting, design management, project management, and financial and legal advisory services.
The project spans several Syrian cities and governorates and aims to develop integrated urban communities across approximately 9 million square metres. With estimated investment of USD 7 billion and a development capacity of approximately 80,000 homes accommodating nearly 400,000 people, it represents a large-scale urban and housing development programme.
The vision is to create integrated, scalable urban communities combining housing, education, healthcare, retail, business, services, leisure, public spaces and green areas. It applies 15-minute-city and walkability principles through an interconnected network of streets, routes, facilities and everyday services.
The urban and architectural programme includes residential towers, complexes, buildings and townhouses; retail and office areas; schools and educational facilities; healthcare facilities; places of worship; parks, sports grounds and community centres; and public services and utilities. A phased development plan allows expansion from residential neighbourhoods into integrated communities and cities.
