Roads General Authority

Saudi Arabia has one of the world’s largest, most connected and developed road networks: over 73,000 km, nearly twice the Earth’s circumference, linking its regions, cities and governorates and eight neighbouring countries by land. A key economic, logistics and development enabler, it ranks first globally for road connectivity and fourth in the G20 for road infrastructure quality, under a national framework advancing road quality, safety and asset sustainability.

In recognition of its road sector capabilities and experience, Radian Engineering Consultancy provides integrated consultancy and engineering support to the Roads General Authority under a framework agreement. It covers extensive work in planning, designing, developing and upgrading the road network and its assets, supporting safety, spending efficiency, asset value and long-term sustainability.

Radian’s scope includes planning and design of roads, bridges and tunnels; engineering and technical reviews and assessments; construction supervision and quality control; traffic and transport studies, modelling and simulation; road safety; pavement and maintenance management; and asset management and assessment. It also covers studies, specifications, review of Saudi Highway Code implementation, and monitoring the performance of road contracts and projects.

The support extends to advanced fields including intelligent transport systems; geographic information systems (GIS) and dashboards; hydrological, hydraulic, geotechnical and geophysical studies; environmental, social and economic impact assessments; public–private partnership (PPP) models; decision support; and data analysis.

The scope is delivered through a multidisciplinary team of experts and consultants. The agreement also includes Radian transferring knowledge and expertise to the Authority’s teams through training, workshops and joint working, strengthening institutional capacity and sustaining technical knowledge within the Authority.
